Wine and Wood has a pizza my heart

Who doesn't love a good glass of wine with some delicious, tastebud satisfying pizza? I know I sure do and if you're like me, I have found the perfect spot for you! Whether you are looking to have a girl's night out or a date night with your significant other, Wine and Wood is the place to go to satisfy your cravings. Located just outside downtown Tampa in Hyde Park on S Howard Avenue you'll find "not your typical wine bar". With over 100 different bottles of wine to choose from and award-winning local craft beers, there is something for everyone's taste buds. Additionally, they offer wine flights paired with a list of wines to choose from to craft your perfect flight, and best of all, on Thursday's they offer $10 off any bottle of wine!

If you're hungry, they offer a wide selection of small plates to start the night, as well as wood-fired pizzas. The small plates offered range from a variety of salads, oven-baked eggplant fries, as well as wood-roasted buffalo cauliflower. But wait! I'm not finished yet, for my cheese lovers out there...these are for you; house-made mozzarella marinara dip, which is their spin on traditional mozzarella sticks, 3-cheese broccoli, and oven-baked 4 cheese ravioli, and yes it tastes just as good as it sounds. But what would a wine bar be without the new fan-favorite charcuterie boards? They offer two different types of boards depending on what you like, and you can't go wrong with either one. Next up they offer several kinds of wood-fired pizza, 14 to be exact! And trust me, you really can't go wrong with any of these either, depending on what you like of course. They are all different and my favorite part is they're not your "traditional" pizzeria kind of pizzas. They are gourmet, wood-fired pizzas, topped with unique ingredients that make each pizza one of a kind.

During my time there, as a starter, I tried the oven-baked 4 cheese ravioli and thought they were amazing! Right off the bat, the fact that it was not fried was the best part, and they still had the same crispiness that your traditional fried ravioli would have. The cheese inside the ravioli was incredible in the sense that the cheese to pasta ratio was perfect. You did not feel an overabundance of either. I would recommend these to anyone going, you won't be disappointed. After indulging in those delicious baked 4 cheese ravioli, I went ahead and tried the 3 cheese and prosciutto pizza as well as Jon's veggie balsamic pizza. Both of these pizzas I have nothing but great things to say. But before we get into it, let me start by informing you that I am originally from New York, and if you know New Yorkers, you know how much we love our pizza.

With that being said, starting with the base of the pizza, it wasn't too thick and wasn't too thin and the crust had a little crispiness to it but was still soft on both of the pizzas which was great. The 3 cheese and prosciutto pizza was tasty, the blend of the three kinds of cheese combined with the prosciutto was fantastic, and each piece consisted of plenty of prosciutto which was great too. The Jon's veggie balsamic was phenomenal and I decided to add prosciutto on as well! The pizza was so refreshing in a sense with all the fresh vegetables it had on it and the drizzle of balsamic glaze added an extra sweet overall flavor in every bite! Aside from the exceptional food that I had during my time there, the overall atmosphere of Wine and Wood was great! They had music playing throughout the night which provided for a fun, vibey atmosphere and the outdoor seating area was cute and cozy with fun decor throughout. Overall, I had a pleasurable experience at Wine and Wood and will be returning sometime soon in the near future and I hope you will too!
